Senior MINISTER

Pastor Canales was born into a Christian family and came to Christ at a very early age. Originally from New York City, Pastor John first served in the US Air Force working in the space program before being called to ministry. He graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in 1996 and has served pastorates in Florida, Wisconsin and Philadelphia before coming to Christ Presbyterian Church in 2005.

He and his wife, Mary Jo, have been married since 1989 and have two boys, Gray and Jack.

Elder Rod Alexander

Elder Emeritus

Rod was raised in Dallas near Love Field. This led to a career in aviation, ultimately flying as a pilot for 45 years. He served in the Air Force during the war in Viet Nam and retired from United Airlines in 2012. A member of Christ Presbyterian since 2005, Rod enjoys teaching and cooking. He and his wife Lauren were married in 1970; they have two children and ten grandchildren, so far!

Elder Scott Peterson

Scott and his wife Lori have been worshiping at Christ Church since moving back to Texas in 2015. Scott was ordained as a ruling elder at Midway Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Georgia, where he served on the Presbytery Candidates and Credentials Committee and at multiple General Assemblies. He is a pilot for American Airlines, and a retired Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve where he served as an attorney. Scott and Lori have two daughters, Allie and Katherine.

Adam Grimes

ELDER

Adam has been a member of Christ Presbyterian Church since 2011 and has served as a diaconal aide since 2017, and an Elder since 2021. He married his wife Amanda in 2005, and together they have been blessed by God with four children. Adam has a strong passion for evangelism and sharing God’s Word with others. In his free time, he likes to read.

Deacon Doug Boswell

A former Mormon, Doug became a Christian in 1992. He and his wife Laurie have been happily married since 1995, and members of Christ Church since 2009. Doug loves to study the Bible, history and politics. He also responsibly enjoys various pop culture products from many glorious areas of Nerddom.

Leng Ea

DEACON

Leng Ea has been a member of Christ Presbyterian Church since 2005 and a deacon since 2008. He and his wife Paula married in 2002, and they have four boys. His days are filled with teaching 5th graders at Coram Deo Academy and coaching tennis.

Deacon Rod Miller

Rod has been a member of Christ Presbyterian Church since 1997 and a deacon since 2000. He has been married since 1991 and has 2 daughters. In his free time, Rod enjoys reading and fishing.

Brandon Luter

DEACON

Brandon and his family have been members of Christ Church since 2017. Brandon is passionate about sharing the gospel, and he enjoys being a handyman around the church. In his free time Brandon enjoys reading, writing calligraphy, and making things out of wood, metal, glass, and stone. He and his wife April have been married since 2012 and they have one daughter, Bonnie.
Coordinator Mary Jo Canales

MINISTRY COORDINATOR

Mary Jo is originally from Venezuela and is the wife of Pastor Canales. She has served on the office staff of several churches, and began serving as the Coordinator of Church Ministries in 2016. She and Pastor John are the parents of two boys, Gray and Jack.

Sharon Miller

MUSIC COORDINATOR

Believing that it is important to equip all immortal souls to become lifelong worshipers of our almighty God, Sharon is passionate about sharing her love of hymns and psalms with the congregation of Christ Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Rod, have been members of Christ Presbyterian Church since 1997.

Sharon received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. Prior to serving as the church’s Coordinator of Music Ministries, she was involved in the world of music as a public school music teacher, Kindermusik instructor, children’s choir director and most recently as the volunteer coordinator for the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas.

Sharon has been married to Rod Miller, long-time deacon at the church, since 1991 and they have two daughters. In her spare time, Sharon enjoys quilting, traveling, reading and watching college football. BOOMER SOONER!
